Hudson Institute: Aircraft carrier is best option to meet emerging threats
In a study by Hudson Institute on the usefulness of building new large aircraft carriers, the three co-authors concluded that large, nuclear-powered aircraft carriers are the best option to deal with the emerging threat environment.

Japan to decide on next indigenous fighter program in fiscal 2018
In an interview with Nikkei, the commissioner of Japan’s new defense acquisition agency said his agency will decide whether to proceed with the development of an indigenous fighter in fiscal 2018.

Poland to launch tender for Vympel R-27 missiles
Poland’s Armament Inspectorate is to launch a tender to procure 40 Vympel R-27 (NATO: AA-10) semi-active radar-guided missiles.

Selex ES delivered three RAT 31 DL radars to Poland
Selex ES officially handed over three RAT 31 DL Fixed Air Defence Radar (FADR) systems to Poland on Oct. 7.

Jane’s: Patriots deployed in Yemen
Jane’s analysis of satellite photos suggest that the Arab coalition fighting in Yemen has deployed two Patriot batteries to the Safir airstrip in Yemen’s Marib province.
The area is said to have been hit by a ballistic missile attack on Sept. 4.
