Lockheed Martin offers to cover U.K.’s C-130Js to SC-130J configuration

Lockheed Martin believes Britain’s C-130Js could get a second-role as maritime patrol aircraft after undergoing conversion into SC-130Js.

The conversion, which involves the installation of a surface search radar under the central fuselage and lengthening the landing gear sponsons, can be performed by Marshall Aerospace.

First flight test of inert B61-12 nuclear gravity bomb

A U.S. Air Force F-15E completed the first development flight test of an inert B61-12 nuclear gravity bomb at Tonopah Test Range in Nevada on Jul. 1.

The B61-12 Life Extension Program is a joint USAF and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) program.
Two additional development flight tests are scheduled for later this year.
The B61-12 will replace the existing B61-3, -4, -7, and -10 bombs.

Australia abandons plan to fly F-35B from its warships

A plan by Australi to buy the F-35B and fly them from its amphibious ships is off the table.

According to Aviation Week, the step would result in spending around $4.4 billion to modify both Canberra-class ships to support the F-35B.

Japan seeking to become full member of NATO SEASPARROW project

Japan is keen to join the NATO SEASPARROW Surface Missile System Project as a full consortium member, Reuters reported.

It is understood that Japan wants to be more active in the development of the ESSM Block 2 and currently the island nation is already a third-part member of the project.
