Wreckage of RAAF Catalina discovered after 72 years
A Royal Australian Air Force Catalina that went missing off Cairns in 1943 has been located under 35 meters of water.

All 11 on board the plane from No. 11 Squadron were killed when it ran out of fuel while on a convoy escort mission.
The Royal Australian Air Force intends to leave the aircraft where it lies as a mark of respect to the crew whose remains are likely to be entombed in the wreckage.

PCAS tested on A-10
The Persistent Close Air Support (PCAS) prototype system from DARPA has been demonstrated on the A-10.
This is the first time the system has been integrated on a U.S. Air Force platform. DARPA tested the PCAS on a MV-22 this March.
During this demonstration, the A-10 had ten live-fire weapons engagements using a mixture of laser- and GPS-guided munitions. All completed within the six-minute time frame set by the program.

Litening 5 being integrated on Eurofighter
Rafael says its Litening 5 targeting pod is being installed on the Eurofighter by Airbus Defence & Space, this will be followed by an operational evaluation.

Canada, Spain to conduct Open Skies flights over Russia using CC-130J
A Royal Canadian Air Force CC-130J is now in Russia to support a joint mission of Canada and Spain for observation flights there between Sept. 21-25.

The flights are conducted under the Treaty on Open Skies agreement.

Australia to co-fund development of new seeker for Joint Strike Missile
Australia has agreed to help finance the development of a new seeker for the Joint Strike Missile (JSM).

Norway and Australia signed an agreement for the funding on Sept. 15.

Indonesian defense minister to meet Russian representatives regarding Su-35 purchase
Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said he would meet with Russian representatives to discuss the purchase of Su-35 fighters at the end of the month.

Ryacudu added that President Joko Widodo has given the green light to go ahead with the purchase.

Russia now has Su-24, 25 fighters in Syria too
An anonymous U.S. official said Russia has deployed 12 Su-24 and a same number of Su-25 fighters to Syria.
The aircraft arrived in Syria over the weekend to join four Su-30 fighters that arrived late last week.
