Indonesia says it scrambled FLANKERs to escort foreign fighter jet out of its airspace

A senior Indonesian Air Force officer said two FLANKERs were scrambled to escort a foreign fighter jet out of its airspace on Sept. 21.

The jets took off from Hang Nadim airport in the Riau Islands province. Lt.. Col. I Ketut Wahyu Wijaya added that four Su-27/30 fighters are currently deployed at this location.

The RoKAF will arm its KF-16 fleet with the Israeli-made Spice 2000 EO/GPS-guided bomb from next year.

The information came to light in a report submitted to the National Assembly’s National Defense Committee for parliamentary inspection.
A request will also be submitted to the Joint Chiefs of Staff to buy two more 737 AEW&C aircraft.

Brig. Gen. Murad Turaiq of the Yemeni army said a Patriot air defense system operated by UAE has defeated a OTR-21 Tochka (NATO: SS-21) on the night of Sept. 21.

The tactical ballistic missile was heading for camp Safer, a staging area for the Saudi Arabia-led coalition forces.
A similar attack on Sept. 4 resulted in the deaths of 67 coalition soldiers.

First F-35A for Norway rolled out

Lockheed Martin rolled out AM-1, the first F-35A for Norway, at its F-35 production facility in Fort Worth, Texas on Sept. 22.

Norwegian Minister of Defense, Ine Eriksen Søreide, was the guest of honor at the event.
AM1, to be joined by AM2 later this year, will head to Luke Air Force Base, Arizona for pilot training.
