Bloomberg revealed that Kuala Lumpur and Washington have been engaged in secret talks to allow U.S. Navy P-3s and P-8s to deploy out of the island of Labuan on East Malaysia in order to monitor Chinese activity in South China Sea.

U.S. to resupply Saudi Arabia with JDAMs, Paveways

The Obama administration has notified Congress informally of its plan to resupply Saudi Arabia’s depleted stocks of JDAM and Paveway precision-guided bombs.

Bloomberg says the State Department made the informal notification last month in order to gauge reactions from key leaders on the proposal.

Denmark’s Defence Command issued a statement saying that an airstrike in Iraq on Aug. 30 might have caused civilian casualties and has launched an investigation into the matter.

HAL’s Light Combat Helicopter completed hot and high-altitude trials

HAL has successfully carried out hot and high-altitude trials of its indigenous Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) at Leh recently.

The helicopter was able to hover and perform low-speed maneuvers under extreme weather conditions at different altitudes.

Taiwanese fisherman hauled in his net and found the remains of four AIM-9 Sidewinders during a fishing trip off the coast of Pingtung County on Sept. 2.

The captain of the fishing vessel threw three of those missiles away due to their poor condition and brought one back and gave it to the Coast Guard Administration.

UAE is latest country to signal interest in Mistral carrier

The United Arab Emirates is the latest country to be named as a potential customer for one of the two Mistral helicopter carriers that were built for Russia.

An anonymous government source confirmed his country’s interest to Defense News, saying that the “Mistral ships are in line with (their) equipment and capabilities.”
