For the first time, senior officers of the U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet took part in a JMSDF tactical simulation involving an emergency situation in the Senkaku Islands.

In the scenario, a large number of ships that appear to be Chinese fishing boats sail to the islands. Men posing as fishermen then go ashore on the islands.
Participants were tested on how they would react to prevent the situation from escalating into an armed conflict.
