A new set of hydrophones is being installed 30 kilometers from the White Sea coast in order to assess the noise signatures of Russian submarines.
The Batareya (Battery) sonar will be lowered to around 300 meters into the water, data collected will be transmitted back to dry land using fiber optic cables.
