Railgun projectile development passes crucial tests

General Atomics’ 3 megajoule Blitzer electromagnetic railgun has fired projectiles with on-board electronics over a two-day period at the U.S. Army’s Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.

The projectiles’ on-board electronics survived four consecutive tests and were able to collect important data such as in-bore accelerations and projectile dynamics.
