The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s only airborne brigade is making plans to conduct a joint airborne training exercise with the U.S. Army Alaska’s 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team during Red Flag Alaska 15-03.

An airborne infantry platoon from 1st Airborne Brigade, Central Readiness Force, will pair with a company from the U.S. 501st Infantry Regiment to conduct a joint forcible entry exercise and seize an airfield.
A combined live fire at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will end the exercise.
A four-day conference was held at the Spartan Brigade headquarters on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska this month to plan for the upcoming exercise.
