A recent study by a military scholar in the inaugural publication of The Army Press has called for the U.S. Army to abandon airborne jumps totally.

Marc DeVore wrote in his 2015 Army study “When Failure Thrives” that the combat jumps have not proven their worth over the last 38 years. He further argues that airborne divisions exists because of institutionalization and military culture rather than being successful in operational terms.
