India wants to build its own missile test ship

Handicapped by its current missile testing instrumentation facilities which are land-based, India is in the process of designing a 10,000 tonne ship that is capable of launching missiles at further distances.

Once the ship, which is under construction, is completed, India will be able to test-fire ballistic missiles from up to 1,500km away.

Iraq F-16s have started combat operations against ISIL

Iraq’s Defense Minister Khaled al-Obaidi told a news conference on Sept. 6 that the country’s newly-acquired F-16IQs have started their air strikes against ISIL targets in the country.

Lt. Gen. Anwar Hama Amin added that these strikes were carried out using precision-guided weapons.

France mulls air strikes on Islamic State in Syria

Paris is considering extending airstrikes against ISIL from Iraq to Syria, Le Monde newspaper reported.

The paper said President François Hollande is considering the move due to the current refugee crisis in Europe.
