India will redesignate its hypersonic missile to BrahMos-II (K), a tribute to late President APJ Abdul Kalam who had lead the nation’s missile program.

South Korean researchers found way to disable drones by using sound
A team from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have found a simple way to disable a flying drone by knocking them out of the sky with sound.

Researchers discovered that many commercial drones have cheap gyroscopes that resonate when exposed to certain sound frequencies.

Simulated LHD under construction at Beaufort
Remember the concrete aircraft carrier the Chinese built in Wuhan? The U.S. Marine Corps is building one at MCAS Beaufort as well.
Construction has begun on a simulated Landing Helicopter Dock aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. The simulated LHD will have all the working lights and equipment found onboard a ship. The base is solid concrete exactly the dimensions of the real one. The dock will also feature a control tower.

USS George Washington to arrive in San Diego, three carrier swap continues
USS George Washington (CVN 73) will arrive at NAS North Island Aug. 10 to kick start its hull swap with USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).

The former forward-deployed carrier will then proceed to Norfolk, Virginia, where it will prepare for its mid-life refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH).

Saudi Arabia keen to buy completed Mistral carriers for Egypt
French daily Le Monde reported that Saudi Arabia is keen to buy the two Mistral carriers ordered by Russia and transfer them to Egypt.

A source told the daily that: “King Salman of Saudi Arabia wants to build a fleet in Egypt which could project regional power in the Red Sea and Mediterranean.”
