Reuters: Sikorsky Aircraft sold to Lockheed Martin

United Technologies Corp and Lockheed Martin are expected to jointly announce the sale of Sikorsky Aircraft to Lockheed today.

The fighter jet manufacturer is expected to pay over $8 billion for the helicopter company. Sources say Sikorsky may likely be left as a standalone company after the acquisition.

Three female Soldiers continue to second phase of Ranger course

Three female soldiers have completed the Darby phase of the grueling U.S. Army Ranger course and moved on to the Mountain phase portion.

Myanmar commissions new aircraft, including G-120TPs

The Myanmar Air Force is now an operator of the Grob G-120TP basic trainer with a number of those aircraft being inducted at Flying Training Base in Meikhtilla on Jun. 24.

During the ceremony, one Mi-35P, at least three AS365s and three Bell 206s were inducted as well.

NTSB releases preliminary report on F-16, Cessna collision

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report of its findings in the fatal collision of a Cessna piston-engine light aircraft and a F-16 from Shaw Air Force Base.

It was believe that after the collision, the F-16 was able to fly for another two minutes before the pilot ejected.

Ellsworth sends first B-1 for IBS upgrade

A B-1 bomber from the 34th Bomb Squadron at Ellsworth Air Force Base left on Jun. 30 to get the Integrated Battle Station systems upgrade at Tinker Air Force Base.

It is the first B-1 from Ellsworth Air Force Base to get the upgrade, which will take more than eight months to complete.

34th Fighter Squadron activates, commences Hill’s combat F-35 era

The 388th Fighter Wing activates 34th Fighter Squadron at Hill Air Force Base, Utah on Jul. 12. The 34th will be the first combat squadron to fly the F-35A.
