A-10 demonstrate its ability to operate from cracked, uneven disuse runway in Poland

With its big tires and high mounted engines, the A-10 is the only combat fighter in the U.S. Air Force that can operate out of an austere landing strip.

The 354th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron and 321st Special Tactics Squadron traveled to Nowe Miasto, Poland recently to practice landing and take-offs from an unprepared old runway.
The cracked, uneven asphalt runway there allow pilots to closely simulate landing conditions in a deployed environment.

Kenya Airways has sparked a major security breach by emailing the the arrival and departure times for Air Force One during President Obama’s visit to Nairobi later this week.

USAF seeks industry feedback on how to find and characterize deeply buried targets

The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate is soliciting white papers from the industry on how to assess, locate, and characterize Hard and Deeply Buried Targets (HDBT).

While much work has been done to neutralize HDBTs, the service is interested in developing far-term plans to develop better capability to locate and characterize facilities of this type.

Croatia shows off all 12 MiG-21s

Croatia shows off all 12 MiG-21s

The final MiG-21 Croatia ordered from Ukraine was delivered on Jul. 16 and the Croatian Air Force held a presentation ceremony at Pleso air base on Jul. 22.

Seven MiG-21s were refurbished by Ukrspecexport while another five were bought over from Ukraine. Delivery of the aircraft was delayed by a year and Ukraine has agreed to pay penalties.
