TAI hopeful of getting U.S. export approval for T129 attack helicopter

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) is optimistic that the U.S. government will grant an export license for the LHTEC CTS800 turboshaft engine that powers the T129 attack helicopter.

The engine is made by the Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Company (LHTEC), a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Honeywell, thus an export license is required from the U.S. government.
TAI can only begin the process of obtaining an export license after a sales contract has been signed for the T129.
