Georgia signs contract with ThalesRaytheonSystems

Georgia’s Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli announced she had signed a contract to buy an air defense equipment from a French company during the Paris Airshow.

Judging from the video and photos released, the country seems to have bought the ThalesRaytheonSystems Ground Master 200 mobile air defense radar.

Royal Jordanian Air Force to be equipped with more Thales I-Master radars

The Royal Jordanian Air Force has decided to purchase more sets of the Thales I-Master SAR/GMTI radars. The selection follows the successful delivery and installation of the radar onto their Royal Jordian Air Force AC-235 aircraft in 2014.

Israeli company unveils suicide UAV capable of recovery

An Israeli company has modified its existing mini-UAV as a loitering weapon. Aeronautics’ Orbiter 1K has its nose section converted to a warhead weighing 2.2 kg.

Using its electrical propulsion, the drone can loiter for 2-3 hours and recover by parachute and an airbag if an attack did not occur.

France plans new missile for Tiger attack helicopter

France plans to have a new anti-tank missile to replace the AGM-114 Hellfire after 2020. The project, known as FAST-M, could be launched as early as this year.

Also, a new guided rocket is in the works to improve the helicopter’s lethality.

U.S. launched F-15E air strike in Libya

The Libyan government said the U.S. government had launched an air strike with two F-15E fighters to take out Islamist militant Mokhtar Belmokhtar.

The United States claimed the strike was successful and it is reviewing the operation.

Hugarian Gripen landing gear failure could be due to software bug

Hungary’s Defense Minister Csaba Hende said the recent accident involving a Hungarian Air Force Gripen could be due to a software error.

Hende said the Swedish Air Force also had a similar experience previously in which the landing gear failed to function properly.
