Drunk Marine triggered foam suppression system at Kadena Air Base

A U.S. Marine, who was drunk, triggered the fire suppression system at a hangar in Kadena Air Base, Japan last month. A spokesperson from the 18th Air Wing confirmed the incident on May 23 but declined to provide details such as the amount of damage done.

USAF could deploy F-22s to Europe

U.S. Air Force Secretary Deborah James doe not rule out deploying the F-22 as part of a theater security package to Europe in response to Russia’s aggression in the region.

“I could easily see the day — though I couldn’t tell you the day exactly — when the F-22, for example, rotates in is a possibility. I don’t see why that couldn’t happen in the future,” James said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an arms fair west of Moscow on Jun. 16 that Russia intends to add more than 40 new intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) this year.

“The nuclear forces will be supplemented this year with 40 new intercontinental ballistic missiles that will be capable of overcoming any, even most technically sophisticated missile defense systems,” he said.

Stephen Phipson, the head of Britain’s Defence & Security Organisation, told reporters at a briefing during the Paris Air Show that a second tranche of Eurofighters for Saudi Arabia could be delayed due to the recent death of the Royal Saudi Air Force commander.

Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Bombardier join forces for JSTARS Recap Program

Lockheed Martin will lead a team with Raytheon and Bombardier to offer their solution for the U.S. Air Force’s JSTARS Recapitalization program.

Lockheed Martin will serve as the lead systems integrator for the program and Raytheon will provide the mission systems. Bombardier will provide its Global business jet platform.
