1st ABCT, U.S. 2nd Infantry Division to stand down after 50 years

After fifty-years in the Korean peninsular, the U.S. Army’s 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division is preparing to inactivate this Summer.

Its tanks, armored personnel carriers and other tactical vehicles will be transferred to the 1st Cavalry Division’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team. The Fort Hood, Texas-based unit will then station in South Korea for nine-months before relieved by another rotational unit.
