Last week, the German Defense Ministry announced plans to develop a new battle tank to replace the Leopard 2.

German media speculate that the new tank will be develop jointly with France as current Leopard 2 manufacturer, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, is set to merge with French Nexter Systems this year.
