USN wants an “underwater Tomahawk” torpedo with 100 mile range

The commander of U.S. Submarine Forces says he wants a new long-range torpedo that can hit targets at 100 miles away.

Vice Adm. Michael Connor called it a “golden bullet” that has similar war capabilities as the Tomahawk cruise missile. It should be able to linger at long distances to wait for its prey.

An unmanned aerial vehicle will provide the targeting information for an over-the-horizon attack. This small UAV will be sub-launched as well.
