AIM-9X Block II achieves IOC

The new AIM-9X Block II dogfight missile has achieved initial operational capability (IOC) on Mar. 31.

This was revealed by Capt. James Stoneman, program manager of PMA-259, at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space exposition on Apr. 13.

Stoneman also revealed that at least 12 nations have indicated interest in the new model.

Rosoboronexport: China has bought S-400 air defense system

Director of Rosoboronexport, Anatoly Isaykin, has announced that China has purchased the S-400 air defense system.

“Details of the contract will not disclose, but yes, China has indeed become the first buyer of the recent Russian air defense system, which underlines the strategic level of our relations,” Isaykin said.

Japan building up space assets

Over the next decade, Japan will embark on a mission to build up its space assets in order to enhance the U.S.-Japan alliance and to contain China.

It will further expand the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) navigation constellation and its space reconnaissance satellites.

Japan will also start to develop a space-based missile early warning capability.
