U.S. Navy delays delivery of first two Zumwalt-class destroyers

Complexity in building an all-electric ship has forced General Dynamics Bath Iron Works and the U.S. Navy to delay delivery of the first two Zumwalt-class destroyers.

Instead of summer, the first ship of the class, DDG 1000, will now be delivered this November. The second ship will reach the U.S. Navy exactly a year later. Only the last ship is still scheduled for delivery in December 2018.
