Sixth Sōryū-class submarine commissioned into service

The sixth Sōryū-class submarine, built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, has been commissioned into service with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force on Mar. 9.

JS Kokuryū was handed over to Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Defense Kenji Harada at the ceremony attended by 200 people.

The cost of constructing SS-506 is around 53.4 billion yen and took four years.
